The fees for all directed retreats include room and board, daily sessions with a spiritual director, daily liturgy, all required materials, and access to the land of Ignatius Jesuit Centre of Guelph.

Financial Assistance Information

As an independent retreat house, Loyola House has very limited resources. It depends for its survival on what it takes in with its programs and with the generosity of its benefactors. At this time, there are no grants available. We would ask that, if you are considering a program, retreat, or workshop at Loyola House, please make sure you have the resources necessary to enter into what is being offered.

Advent & Lenten Taizé
Advent & Lenten Taizé
Facilitated by Erik Oland, S.J., Tarcia Gerwing, and Yvonne Prowse

Beginning with Evening Prayer on Friday, the retreat schedule follows the Taizé monastic pattern of the day - morning, noon, and evening prayer. The retreats close on Sunday noon with Eucharist. The weekends will be punctuated with brief inputs and the opportunity for group sharing. While areas will be designated for silence, these are not totally silent retreats. In keeping with the monastic tradition, meals will be simpler.

The Teilhardian Spiritual Exercises 8-Day Preached Retreat
The Teilhardian Spiritual Exercises 8-Day Preached Retreat
Available for the first time, an 8-day preached retreat based on the book, The New Spiritual Exercises in the Spirit of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J., and led by the book's author, Louis M. Savary, PhD, STD.

The retreat follows the Four Week structure and major meditations and contemplations of the Ignatian Exercises--transposed from their 16th Century perspective into the 21st Century in the spirit of Jesuit Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.

The retreat integrates into the classical Exercises advances in spirituality, theology, psychology, modern science and evolution as Teilhard might present them, if he were alive today.  Inspired by the genius of Ignatius Loyola and the evolutionary vision of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, come and renew your love for God, the human family and all creation.

Advent Prayer Weekend
Advent Prayer Weekend
Facilitated by John Govan, S.J.

There have been many miraculous births recorded in Scripture before the Annunciation. In all of them,
the person asks God for a child. However, when it came time for Jesus to become human, God takes
the initiative and asks Mary if she will allow God to become flesh? For us today, God is asking each of us
the same question. Are we willing to allow God into our lives each day in a personal way?

This is what Advent is all about. It is a season for remembering God as the Creator who is still creating.
It is a season for admitting our need for God in our world and in ourselves. It is a season calling us to true humility. It is a season inviting us to wait with hope. It is a season for us to prepare ourselves so that we can really welcome God in a new way. And the weekend is all of these.
